Designing comprehensible pictograms using expression technique learned from deaf people

(in English) We are aiming for the universal communication aid system with moving pictograms, which is easy to understand for every people. Hearing impaired people communicate by using mainly visual media such as sign language. Hence particular expression styles are seen in their communication. We are expecting that the communication aid system will be realized by applying the expression styles to the design of pictograms. We have been analyzed the expression styles which are seen in gestures by hearing impaired people. In this paper, we will present two pictogram designing styles, that is, contrastive style and narrative style. In order to validate the effectiveness of the presented styles, we carried out the evaluation experiments using the 50 Japanese hearing subjects.
