Fundamental Study on In-vehicle Radio Propagation Characteristics at 60GHz

(in English) In-vehicle wireless communication (IVC) has recently attracted considerable attention in order to advance the amenity and entertaining. For the IVC, a high speed data transmission scheme is required because various applications such as wireless seat-monitor for high definition movie transmission are considered. In this paper, we focus on 60GHz wideband radio because it offers ultra-high speed communications, and we present measurement results of the in-vehicle 60GHz radio channel and the leakage power to outside vehicle and discuss. The measurements are conducted for various passenger's number and terminal locations. The relation between the number of multipath and the amount of received energy is also discussed in order to predict the performance of Rake combine.
