An Experimental Evaluation on Multi-BS Cooperative Transmission Control in LTE System

(in English) Coordinated Multi-Point (CoMP) transmission, in which multiple base stations (BSs) transmit their signals in a coordinated way, is attracting attention as a promising technique to improve cell-edge throughput in LTE-Advanced. We proposed a multi-BS cooperative transmission control technique, in which the cell-edge user throughput is improved by stopping the signal transmission of neighbor cells giving strong interference to the cell-edge users. Recently, we developed test equipment, on which this multi-BS cooperative transmission control is implemented based on a 3GPP Release 8 LTE eNB. And, we have conducted a lab and field trial with the equipment. In this paper, we report the basic behavior and the communication quality of the test equipment in the lab and field trial.
