| (in English) | Tsunami and tide level measurement method using the strength distribution of backscattering microwaves from sea surface, and the tsunami and tide levels around March 11, 2011 measured by an X-band microwave pulse radar at off Hiratsuka in Sagami Bay were shown. In the strength of backscattering microwaves from sea surface, the influence of antenna radiation pattern is included along with the sea surface condition and the distance from antenna to sea surface. With the assumption that the backscattering cross section is constant in a target area, the distance from antenna to sea surface can be estimated by pattern matching the antenna radiation pattern to the backscattering strength. | |
