Band Broadening of Waveguide/Microstrip-line Transformer for Millimeter-wave Band

(in English) This paper reports prototype waveguide / microstrip-line / waveguide transformers (two times transformation) for 50−75GHz (V-band) and for 75−110GHz (W-band). These transformers are based on fin-line which consists of a waveguide split at the center of the H-plane and a double-sided substrate which put between the split waveguides. Via-hole arrays are introduced into the substrate along waveguide wall in order to reduce leakage of electric field through the dielectric layer of the substrate. It is verified that trough mode causes traps in transmission, therefore a technique to remove the trough mode is newly developed. The measured transmission losses of prototype transformers are within 0.6−1.6dB for V-band and 0.7−1.6dB for W-band.
