A method to reduce the cost of a phased array antenna and to suppress grating lobes is an aperiodic array antenna using subarrays.
In the practical case where element antennas are aperiodically arranged on a subarray,
the circular polarization seems to be suitable because all the suarray can be constituted from the same form.
In this paper, the axis ratio characteristics of an aperiodic array antenna using sequentially rotated subarray technique was verified to be valid. |
