Discrimination of Emotional Responses to Pleasant/Unpleasant Auditory Stimuli with Biological Information

(in English) Although daily life noise has various bad influences on people, installing entire soundproof materials in rooms are highly expensive and impractical. Calm Technology is one of the useful solutions by which the unpleasant perception to the noise can be moved to the periphery from the center of the user’s attention. To realize this approach, it is necessary to discriminate pleasant/unpleasant emotional responses. However, the quantitative method to evaluate the emotional responses has not, as yet, been established. In this study, a method for discriminating emotional responses to pleasant/unpleasant auditory stimuli with ElectroEncephaloGram (EEG) and Cerebral Blood Flow (CBF) will be proposed. In addition, a scheme to make the user’s sound environment more comfortable will be discussed as a future work.
