Environmental observation systems using battery-powered sensor nodes are required to handle a power shortage problem of the nodes.To solve the problem, we have been developing a environmental observation system that uses solar panels to achieve power restoration with environmental energy.However, power restoration using solar panels tends to be affected by weather conditions and lacks stability.Our system predicts the amount of power restoration with two types of prediction methods and decides a power utilization schedule based on the prediction results.Sensor nodes changes its sampling rates to retrieve sensor data based on the schedule to avoid power shortage and realize efficient power consumption.An evaluation experiment by simulation using the past weather forecast data and actual weather information shows that sensor nodes operate over long periods of time enough without power shortage and indicates the validity of the our proposed method. |
