High Contrast Projection Display by Surface Reflectivity Modulation using Photochromic Material

(in English) We propose a high contrast display, with modulation of the projection surface reflectivity in photochromism. Specifically, we apply photochromic compounds on projection surface, and project UV (ultraviolet) light so as to we modulate the reflectivity.
Projecting visible light image on the surface using visible projector, we aim to realize a high contrast display.
For this purpose,
we control the reflectivity and superimpose the projection image on the projection surface using feasible setup, which consist of UV LED lights array, photochromic compounds, and a projector-camera system. This experiment was conducted only with one dimensional horizontal line of LED lights array.
As a result, we concluded that the reflectivity modulation can realize high contrast.
