Development of automatic measurement method of airway on 3D thoracic CT images for COPD diagnosis

(in English) Evaluating airway wall is an important factor for diagnosis of COPD(Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease)
by use of CT(Computed Tomography) images. In this study, we tried to diagnose bronchiectasis. Bronchiectasis is a disease
that changes airway wall thickness. Evaluation of airway wall is carried out by a doctor manually by use of two dimensional
CT slice images. However, we consider the three dimensional evaluation of airway wall thickness is more effective, and
vertical section of airway wall is helpful for accurate COPD diagnosis. And the CAD(Computer Aided Diagnosis) system
which is able to evaluate airway wall thickness automatically is needed.
In this study, we tried to make mapping images for examination of pathological changes by using bronchial images. In order
to make mapping images, this algorithm evaluates airway wall thickness by
