For the realization of an electronic holography with a wide viewing zone angle, we have advanced development of an ultra-fine spatial light modulator, having the advantages of submicron size of pixels and high-speed switching of magnetic materials, driven by spin transfer torque switching. In this report, we constructed a magneto-optical imaging system to create an image of magnetization switching in a submicron-size magnetic pattern and successfully observed a polarization modulation of a fabricated device, 500 nm × 500 nm in size, driven with a spin injection current. Furthermore, periodically-arrayed micron-size magnetic dots were fabricated on a silicon wafer and a diffracted light from them are investigated. In consequence, the diffraction spots corresponding to their periodicity were observed and a switching operation of the diffracted light according to the direction of applied magnetic field was demonstrated. |
