T-slot antenna on the ridged plane of a ridged waveguide

(in English) To obtain a downsizing of linear polarized slotted waveguide antennas in the H-plane without dielectric material,the authors propose a T-shape slot structure cut on the ridged surface of a ridged waveguide.The proposed slot structure consists of a transverse slot and longitudinal slot line, which is equivalent with a slot dipole antenna fed with a coplanar waveguide on the ridged surface.Using an alternating element arrangement, the proposed antenna can be placed with the $\lambda_g/2$ interval which is necessary for the grating lobe suppression of air-loaded waveguide antennas.Resultant antenna achieves the size reduction of 3/4 in the H-plane in comparison with standard rectangular waveguides.Using a 3-element longitudinal array antenna, it is demonstrated that the each excitation weight can be controlled with the slot lengths which is based on resonant slot nature.Simulated characteristics of two-dimensional array antenna are also demonstrated in this report, where a parallel plate structure with an air gap is newly introduced instead of the ridge structure.Although the result shows some performance degradation under the asymmetric excitation; great contribution of the proposed structure to fabrication easiness is also presented.
