We demonstrate a SOSCast application that is able to estimate the victims’ location in an area affected by a catastrophic disaster. For example, in the aftermath of an earthquake, a rescue team cannot acquire the victims’ information through the existing mobile network because the communication networks are down. To establish communication, SOSCast then employs the Store-Carry-Forward routing scheme utilizing the Bluetooth device.Using the proposed communication scheme, a victim sends a rescue message, which includes current situation and
GPS information, to other smartphones. The rescue message is then forwarded to a rescue team, along with other rescue messages. The rescue team can then estimate the victims’ condition and location by extracting the received rescue messages. In the demonstration, SOSCast shows a victim’s location by using the victim’s and the carriers’GPS information. |
