A study on charge and discharge control system of EDLC for compensation of output fluctuation in renewable energy source
Kazuya Ushigome, Tsuyoshi Funaki (Osaka Univ) EE2011-39
Abstract (in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
(in English) An output fluctuation compensation system for renewable power generation is indispensable to balance power supply-demand. This paper evaluates electric double layer capacitor (EDLC) as an electric storage component for this system due to large power density compared with secondary battery. The stability of the charge and discharge control system of EDLC must be evaluated including a bidirectional DC/DC converter and load. The ladder circuit parameter of EDLC is identified from frequency characteristics, and ladder circuit model makes it possible to design stable charge and discharge system of EDLC. This paper evaluates charge and discharge efficiency of EDLC influenced rise in temperature from self-heating.
