This paper describes the overview of “Research and Development on Photonic Transparent Transmission Technologies (λ-Reach Project)”, the new NICT (National Institute of Information and Communications Technology) funded project. This project consists of three sub-projects; 1) Adaptive modulation and nonlinear impairment compensation for wide area and large capacity metro/access networks, 2) Adaptive client accommodation and linear impairment compensation including forward error correction, 3) Scalable photonic node architecture and optical switch interface. This project aims to develop the optical transmission technologies for extremely expanding transparent area in over 100Gbps era. |
