The purpose of this research is the automatic detection of perceptually
salient regions in a static image. To develop the techniques to automatically extract specified objects or regions is a challenging task in many fields such as object recognition and image retrieval. We propose an algorithm to detect perceptually salient regions by using visual attention model based on the early process of the human vision. In the proposed algorithm, we aimed at achieving the automatic detection of salient regions with high accuracy by combining the saliency map that extracts the noticeable features and the segmented image that acquires the shape of each region. To demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed method, we perform the comparative experiments in comparison with the other methods using the quantitative evaluation with Ground Truth. |
