Optimal Sensor Selection for Single-trial P300 Speller

(in English) Brain-computer interface (BCI) is a device that uses brain signals to control. By using BCI, people with motor disorder like amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) or spinal injury can control external devices or communicate with people around them. Single-trial BCI is needed to realize fast communication by BCI-based speller, which types words into the computer by brain signals. However, the accuracy of single-trial P300 speller is not adequate. In this study, we use backward elimination method for sensor selection (for reducing the unnecessary electrodes). The contribution of this paper is to obtain the important electrode points for achievement of the single-trial BCI. This proposed method indicates the higher recognition accuracy than the conventional method.
