Base Station Equipment for Multi-User MIMO Transmission Experiments on 5GHz Band

(in English) MIMO precoding requires precise control of transmit signals from multiple antennas in order to suppress inter-user interference over the time-varying channel. Therefore, it is important to evaluate the performance of a multi-user MIMO system in an actual propagation environment. However, there are few studies reported on multi-user MIMO transmission experiment in outdoor environment. In this paper, implementation of an experimental system for multi-user MIMO transmission is presented. Indoor transmission experiments are carried out using a fading emulator and the performance of the system is compared with computer simulation results. Outdoor transmission experiments are also conducted in an actual propagation environment and BER performances versus SNR, mobile course, and mobile speed are presented.
