Single-Carrier MIMO Multiplexing Using 2-step QRM-ML Block Signal Detection

(in English) Maximum likelihood block signal detection using QR-decomposition and M-algorithm (QRM-MLBD) can significantly improve the transmission performance of single-carrier multiple-input multiple-output (SC-MIMO) multiplexing compared to space filtering based on the minimum mean square error criterion (MMSED) while reducing the computational complexity compared to MLD. However, QRM-MLBD still requires high complexity in M-algorithm. Recently, the authors proposed 2-step QRM-MLBD for a single-input single-output (SISO) transmission. 2-step QRM-MLBD can remove unreliable symbol candidates from the symbol tree by computing the posteriori probabilities after MMSE based frequency domain equalization (MMSE-FDE). In this paper, for achieving further complexity reduction, we propose an adaptive detection ordering into 2-step QRM-MLBD for SC-MIMO multiplexing. The adaptive detection ordering is based on the number of symbol candidates at each stage and transmit antenna order. We show by computer simulation that 2-step QRM-MLBD using proposed ordering can achieve almost the same throughput performance as QRM-MLBD while reducing computational complexity.
