Control of Speech Rate with Visual Feedback

(in English) This paper describes an experiment to control speech rate with visual feedback of the speakers own speech rate.
The subjects were instructed to read aloud more than 100 phrases (bunsetsu's) with slow speech after repeating a sentence spoken at a target speech rate.
Three target rates for reading passages were used with and without visual feedback of the speech rate on line.
The mean speech rates performed were closer to the respective targets with the visual feedback than without it, except for
a single target speed of one subject.
