A basic study of amplification equipment for an electro-larynx

(in English) Laryngectomized patient cannot vocalize because of unavailability of their vocal cord. An electro-larynx device is one of an alternative device for them. It has the advantage that it can use immediately by simply pressing a button switch without daily maintenance and practices. But, there are problem that a sound which directly comes from a device is noisy, and that a user cannot speak with a loud voice. It is considered that these problems will be reduced by the use of a loudspeaker system. The authors developed a loudspeaker system for an electro-larynx device user. In this paper, we describe about a preliminary experimentation to investigate a intelligibleness by use of different microphones or gain of a loudspeaker system, and intelligibleness of a sound which is spoken with an electro-larynx in quantitative form.
