Fast Protection Switching Method by Cooperation of Upper Layer Protocols and Ethernet Ring

(in English) The protection switching process by ERP(Ethernet Ring Protection Switching) can be operated within 50ms after failure detection. But in the networks where both ERP and various higher-layer protocols ( for example, OSPF, PIM-SM, VRRP, etc.) operate, the protection switching process as the whole networks system takes very long time since processing of higher-layer protocol is very slow.
In this paper, we propose new protection switching method to realize improvement the processing speed of protection switching of higher-layer protocol by delivering the acquired fault information by ERP protocol to each higher-layer protocol.
