Recently, due to remarkable progress in wireless communication technology, various wireless networks are becoming more available in many situations. However, the characteristic of wireless environment causes many problems like limited bandwidth, collisions and interferences. It is required to enhance bandwidth with effective channel utilization by minimizing the problems. In this paper, we achieve higher communication throughput with minimum increase of hardware complexity in infrastructure type wireless LAN. Specically, we increase bandwidth by introducing multi-channel environment where a base station has multiple transceivers and each of them uses a dedicated wireless channel. Moreover, in the proposal method, the base station controls the operation channel of each wireless station in order to minimize collisions and interferences, caused by hidden terminal problem, by distributing communication load to all channels. Furthermore, we propose another method to restrain redundant channel usage so that interferences between neighboring wireless LANs and power consumption at a base station are reduced. Finally, we show the effectiveness of the proposed methods by computer simulation. |
