Experimental Evaluation of Auxiliary Graph Based Energy Efficient Routing Algorithm for Optical Networks

(in English) Reducing the energy consumption of network is really important issue recently since the total energy consumption of the networks has been rapidly increasing due to the growth of the Internet traffic. Dynamic lightpath set-up, which introduce optical cut-through, reduces IP packet processing at the intermediate nodes, then the total energy consumption of network can be reduced. In actual optical networks, optical signal quality degrades with the length of a lightpath, and an optical regenerator must be used to compensate the signal quality. In calculating energy efficient paths, the energy consumption of optical regenerators should be considered. In this paper, the experimental system, in which our proposed auxiliary graph based energy efficient lightpath routing algorithm is implemented with OpenFlow, is evaluated.
