Performance Evaluation on Semi-Fixed Rate Control Method for Wireless Mesh Networks based on Real-World Experiments

(in English) Since mesh routers (MRs) are stationary placed in general in a wireless mesh network (WMN), the optimum rate for each link can be determined over time. It is considered that high throughput is obtained by using the optimum rate fixedly while link quality does not change significantly. Semi-Fixed Rate Control method (SFRC) realizes the use of the optimum rate for each link automatically without prior measurement. In this paper, the performance of SFRC is experimentally evaluated using SFRC implementation in the WLAN card driver. It is shown that SFRC can significantly improve throughput compared with a conventional adaptive rate control method.
