Supporting Method Naming for Java Programs Using Verb-Object Relations

(in English) Program comprehension occupies large time in software maintenance task. In program comprehension, the role of identifier' name is large. In this paper, we focus method names in object-oriented program, and suggest an approach for supporting naming of methods by showing candidates of method names to developers. To generate candidates, this approach uses editing source code and the dictionary of verb-object relationship proposed in the previous study. To evaluate our approach, we investigate the change of naming methods by using a tool implemented our approach in an evaluation experiment. The result of this experiment shows our technique helps participants answering correct verbs in method name deleted from source code, although the result is not statistically significant. In addition, the participants gave positive comments about our approach and the candidates our tool shown.
