Effect of Visual Information on Human Predictive Motor Control

(in English) In a visuo-manual tracking task, hand motion often precedes the target motion. This suggests that human brain performs predictive or feed-forward motor control even in a “tracking task”. In order to continue accurate tracking, however, we have to refer to visual information related to target and hand motions for movement adjustment. Here, it is unclear how the visual information operates in the motor control: Do we refer to visual information continuously or intermittently? If intermittently, how do we catch the information? To answer these questions, we conducted a behavioral experiment where visual information of target motion was partially removed. We found that hand motion changed when the target disappeared in the specific phase of sinusoidal trajectory.
