A Method of Equipment Power State Management to Save Electricity

Abstract (in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
(in English) Because of social demands to reduce CO2 emissions and to save electric power, companies have to save electricity without affecting their business activities, with strict power management. In order to perform power management, it is necessary to ensure planned and actual use of machines. If there are too many machines, it is difficult to measure the actual power consumption in each machine. In this paper, we propose a simple method to estimate actual power consumption in these case. We also show the actual number of the failure in our servers for the past five years, and discuss whether machine shutdown and machine failure is correlated.
