Since the data traffic continues to increase with 40~70 % per year, large transmission capacity will be highly required for optical fiber communication systems. Recently, space-division multiplexing (SDM) by mode-division multiplexing (MDM) transmission has been attracted as new generation optical fiber technology in order to realize large transmission capacity. In this work, we investigate the fiber parameters which meet design conditions, the limit of Aeff enlargement, and the differential mode group delay (DMGD) on few-mode fibers for MDM transmission. |
