To expand the usable wavelength bandwidth for optical communications, we have focused on a use of a 1.3-μm wavelength band as namely an O-band (Original-band), thereby pioneering waveband for a photonic transport system. To construct O -band photonic transport system, attractive photonic ICT devices such as quantum dot laser and holey-fiber transmission lines are developed. In this paper, O -band, 10-Gbps, and error-free ultra-broadband photonic transmission over a holey fiber can be demonstrated. Pioneering broadband optical frequency resources over the 7.0-THz is successfully achieved for photonic transport system in O-band. |
