We fabricated an AWG (arrayed-waveguide grating) with 8 output channels at a spacing of 200 GHz, using PLZT ((Pb, La)(Zr, Ti)$\mathrm{O_{3}}$) buried waveguides. The PLZT buried waveguides have lower propagation loss and higher optical confinement compared to the previously reported ridge PLZT waveguides. Applying voltage to the electrodes of the PLZT-AWG, the center wavelength can be tuned over 1600 GHz. The 3-dB bandwidth was 110 GHz, and the maximum control voltage was 14V. The crosstalk was -14 dB for TE (transverse electric) polarized light and -13 dB for TM (transverse magnetic) polarized light. The rise and fall time were less than 40 ns to select certain wavelength channel. |
