24 Hours Monitoring System of Heart Rate Variability to Predict Septic Shock

(in English) Heart rate variability (HRV) has been recognized as a measurement of activity of autonomous nervous system, and possibilities as an indicator of sepsis occurrence have also been investigated. One of challenges to calculate HRV is how abnormal heartbeats are eliminated because an abnormal heartbeat over-estimates the value of HRV. We, thus, suggest to exclude those in advance applying the proposed method which assuming trend exist. Analyzing HRV of ICU inpatients with sepsis occurrences, tendency to decreases gradually 12-36 hours ago in a temporal change of HRV is confirmed. It is expected that sepsis occurrence is preventable by presenting an alarm when HRV decreases appears in continuous HRV monitoring.
