Silent speech BCI -- Bereitschaftspotential during actual and silent janken tasks --

(in English) We have developed a new single-trial-EEG-based BCI using silent speech tasks. This BCI consists of two phases. The first phase utilized EEGs recorded during actual janken tasks, while the second those during silent janken ones. Assuming that the EEGs thus obtained involve Bereitschaftspotential (-like) components, the first phase specified a Kalman filter model using speech signals and the EEGs whose dipoles were located at the primary motor cortex, the premotor cortex or Broca’s area. Then, the second predicted spectrograms by the Kalman filter model with EEGs, recorded during the silent janken tasks, whose dipoles were localized to the primary motor cortex, the premotor cortex or Broca’s area. In order to validate the above assumption, this study examined grand averages of the single-trial EEGs for the actual and silent janken, and compared them with the previous researches.
