In global navigation satellite systems (GNSS) such as Global Positioning System (GPS), we need signals from more than four satellites to find out the current three-dimensional location. However, the visibility is occasionally blocked in city areas. In these areas, the ground placement of the pseudo satellite, or in short, pseudolite, has been proposed. It broadcasts the signal in the same format as the satellites broadcast and augments the availability. However, it is known the signals from the satellites sometimes block by the pseudolite signal then, and it referred to as the near-far problem. Therefore, pulse-like transmission of has been used for mitigating the interference vicinity close to the pseudolite. In this paper, the coverage and the outage probability are analytically obtained where the receiver encounters shadowing. The coverage and the outage probability of a pseudolite that reduces the transmission power step-by-step are also calculated. Result showed the step-by-step power reduction pseudolite outperforms the conventional pulse-like transmission pseudolite. |
