A Study on Effective Search for Space-Time Codes

(in English) Most space{time codes have been designed so that they have full-rank. However, such codes are not always optimal. For example, when the number of receive antennas is large, the minimum trace of a code plays
a more important role in performance. In this paper, we propose a method of search for good space{time block codes suitable for using a large number of receive antennas. This method provides new 64QAM space-time block codes using two, three and four transmit antennas. These codes are compared the bit error probability with the orthogonal space{time block codes (QOSTBC) and the Alamouti codes by computer simulations. The results show the proposed codes have a small rank, but they show signi cant performance gain when the number of receive antennas is large.
