Barium ferrite (BaFe) has the outstanding high recording density characteristic, and is expected as a magnetic recording material that replaces to the present metal particle (MP) for the linear tape system. By this research, comparison testing of BaFe/MP was carried out in terms of the long-term archival stability (chemical stability and thermal stability) – which is an important requirement when used for the digital archive. As a result, though the BaFe has submicroscopic volume that is suitable for high recording density, it turned out that it has the outstanding chemical stability and thermal stability. |
