Comparison of Propagation Characteristics Using Ray Tracing Method and FDTD for Wireless Services inside Tunnels
Gilbert Siy Ching, Kensuke Tsuda, Yukiko Kishiki (Kozo Keikaku Engineering) AP2012-37
Abstract (in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
(in English) Staying connected and being able to communicate anywhere, anytime is becoming the norm. Even inside tunnels, there is a need to have good connections. As a result, studies on propagation mechanisms inside
tunnels are becoming important. Ray tracing and FDTD are methods that can be used to study propagation mechanisms. In this work, both methods are used to simulate and analyse propagation inside tunnels with and without objects. The extent and applicability of ray tracing method is compared with that of FDTD.
