Molecular Dynamics Analysis on the Effect of Alcohol Addition on Water Shear Flow

(in English) By using molecular dynamics simulation, effect of alcohol addition in nano-scale water Couette flow was examined in this study. IPA (Isopropyl-alcohol) was used as alcohol, and the IPA molecules tend to be adsorbed onto surface instead of water molecules. As a result of simulation, velocity slip between surface and liquid was observed, and by increasing the surface coverage of IPA, viscous stress was reduced because of the decrease of velocity gradient. This tendency can be extracted by rotational diffusion coefficient near the surface, which is theoretically related to viscosity.
