Watt-class wireless power delivery system for SD card size large volume memory card was developed. Fast load tracking technique is essential because the small size memory card can not contain a battery and the load changes rapidly depending on the operation mode of the memory card. Delta-sigma modulated sub-harmonic switching technique was proposed to realize a high efficient and high-speed power control with low electro-magnetic interference (EMI). Test chips were designed and fabricated using 0.18mm-CMOS with high voltage (32V) LDMOS option and power delivery of 0.5W/chip was achieved. The transmitting power was able to be controlled over one order of magnitude while keeping high efficiency. 3.3% load regulation was achieved and reduction of unwanted spurious emission by 8dB was confirmed by the delta-sigma modulation of control signal of switching frequency. |
