Optical Circuit Switching (OCS) transmission, which is considered as the mainstream technology of all optical network, needs larger time than the round trip time to establish lightpaths. Therefore, as the traffic size in the network becomes small, the lightpath establishment overhead becomes large and network efficiency becomes worse. In our previous work, we propose a design of hybrid optical network which has optical broadcast network in addition to the OCS network and and evaluate its performance.
Both network construct logical topologies which construct spanning trees hierarchically to improve the network efficiency. However, conventional hierarchical logical topology design with broadcast communication cannot avoid crash between two traffic on source nodes and intermediate nodes.
Therefore, even if the data transmission requirements arrival rate is low, the call loss probability of the optical broadcast network is high.
In this paper, we propose a new logical topology which combines bus topology and star topology for optical broadcast network using technology. |
