Direct spectrum division (DSD) and sub-spectrum suppressed transmission are introduced to achieve highly efficient frequency usage on satellite transponder for satellite communication systems. Single-carrier modulated signal is directly divided into sub-spectra by DSD and some sub-spectra are suppressed at the transmitter in order to reduce total occupied bandwidth. At the receiver, since proposed equalization processing with autologous spectrum regeneration (ASR) is iteratively applied, inter symbol interference (ISI) due to the sub-spectrum suppression can be compensated. However, in the previous study, error propagation may occur when including bit error in preliminary decoded bit because hard replica was used to generate sub-spectrum replica by re-encoding and re-modulating hard decision bits. In this paper, we apply soft replica generated directly from likelihood of information bits to solve the problem and to improve the bit error performance. We show the simulation results about bit error performance, equalization gain, and frequency utilization efficiency for our proposal. |
