Performance of Iterative Decision-Directed Chanel Estimation Using LDPC Code for DFT-Precoded OFDMA

(in English) This paper presents the average block error rate (BLER) performance of iterative decision-directed channel estimation (DDCE) using the Low-Density Parity-Check (LDPC) code for discrete Fourier transform (DFT)-precoded Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiple Access (OFDMA). We apply iterative DDCE using soft-decision symbol estimation based on the log-likelihood ratio (LLR) of an extrinsic probability at the layered belief propagation (BP) decoder output in addition to reference signals (RSs). The improved channel response is used to generate a linear minimum mean-square error (LMMSE) based weight in the frequency domain equalizer (FDE) and to compute the LLR of a posteriori probability at the FDE output. Computer simulation results show that the iterative DDCE with the number of iterations of 2 for the coding rate of R = 1/3 and 1/2 can decrease the required average received signal-to-noise power ratio (SNR) satisfying the average BLER of 10-2 by approximately 0.7 and 0.4 dB compared to that for RS based channel estimation. Consequently, the loss in the required average received SNR compared to the ideal channel estimation is suppressed to within 0.4 dB in the 9-path Extended Typical Urban channel model.
