A satellite laser communication, which provides high-speed and high-capacity satellite communications, draws much attention. In the satellite-to-ground laser communication, the laser is affected by some factors such as air scintillation. Therefore, forward error correction (FEC) scheme, efficient for satellite laser communication, is needed to provide high quality communication. We have showed that low-density generator matrix (LDGM) code which is one of the FEC scheme is suitable for satellite laser communication and the multi-rate LDGM transmission scheme with blind code rate estimation enables flexible and rate-efficient data transmission in the low earth orbit (LEO)-to-ground laser communication. However, this multi-rate scheme causes a few rate estimation errors in the burst erasure channel and more accurate estimation is needed to avoid the synchronization loss of information data caused by multi-rate mismatching. In this paper, we propose a new multi-rate block transmission scheme and its accurate rate estimation algorithm. We also show the improved performances of rate-estimation and its calculation complexity at the decoder from numerical results. |
