Configuration of wind sources for presenting uniform air flow to a human head and measurement of wind velocity

(in English) Recently, several virtual reality (VR) systems have been built to enhance user’s sensation of presence by using wind. However, because wind sources are arranged rather sparsely in these studies, it is not known whether wind direction is presented precisely. We have studied the property of wind direction perception at the face by using a single fan and found that human judges wind directions by the facial region which wind hit. However, it is still an open question how human judges the wind direction if uniform wind hits entire face. In this study, we designed configurations of wind sources in order to present uniform wind that can cover entire face and discussed the optimal configuration by measuring the wind velocity distribution.
