(in English) The purpose of our research is to investigate and clarify the microwave responses from snow and ice on a flat surface and to develop the measurement methods based on these results.
The authors attempt to apply those methods to development of microwave sensors for road-surface condition monitoring for winter road maintenance operation, and to ground truth of SAR observations on a sea ice and a snow field.
In this report, a determination method of dielectric constants using reflection coefficients measurements with oblique incidence is introduced. First, theoretical descriptions of measurement principles, 1) plane-wave reflection at flat interface between dielectric media, 2) inverse problem analysis on reflection coefficient as function of dielectric constants,
is given. Next, measurement method of reflection coefficient of actual medium is described.
