Building a human-like conversational android based on large amount of chat data

(in English) To build a robot that interacts with humans in human-like ways, it should be provided with a capability of verbal communication with humans. Although previous studies have focused on developing an android robot that resembles human appearance to be utilized for nonverbal communication in more human-like ways, capabilities of verbal communication have been often implemented by replaying prepared voice data or tele-operation. In this paper, to build a robot that can chat with humans, we integrate an android and Cleverbot which is a chatbot program and has highly evaluated in Turing Test. In this paper, we report how the system performs in conversation with a person in English. We also report a preliminary result of the experiment to examine how the videotaped conversation was evaluated by persons.
