This paper presents an enhancement of peer selection algorithms for live P2P streaming service. In our previous works, we proposed Quality-of-Service Evaluation for Peer-to-Peer IPTV Services where all peers are in hierarchical structure. We proposed another algorithm where peers are not in hierarchical, and used more parameters for evaluation. This paper is an enhancement of our previous works where scores of link quality are evaluated. We have shown that, with this proposed extension, we can have a better peers selection solution. Recently, peer selection algorithms are mainly based on delay or bandwidth, such parameters are fluctuated by time, may not specify peer quality. Hence, we have proposed an improvement of peer selection algorithm by evaluating quality of video content delivered using source-to-client measuring approach. We calculate the video time delay from buffer map (or play back time) of each target peer which can reflect the target peer quality. With this algorithm, we can discover good neighbor peers which can provide a good service to a new joining peer. |
