Unidirectional Semiconductor Ring Lasers using Semiconductor Optical Isolators.

(in English) Semiconductor Ring Lasers (SRLs) are important devices to realize optical flip-flop memories. However, it is difficult to separate optical input / output signals and integrate many devices because SRL’ oscillation direction is bidirectional. In this study, we have integrated semiconductor optical isolators with SRLs in order to implement different optical gain in an oscillation direction. We report fabrication process of unidirectional ring lasers.
