Abstract (in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
(in English) In order to realize high power fiber lasers with good beam quality, suppression of nonlinear effects is strongly needed. Therefore, large-mode-area (LMA) fibers have been investigated because of their large core and effective area (Aeff). All-solid photonic bandgap fibers (AS-PBGFs) are expected to be applied as LMA fibers. In this work, employing numerical simulations based on the finite element method, we optimize the structure of AS-PBGFs and show the limits of Aeff enlargement. In addition, we investigate the relationship between the limits of Aeff enlargement and the assumed bending radii.
