Liquid concentration measurement by use of surface-plamsons on metallic periodic-structures

(in English) Surface plasmon resonance (SPR) on a metal surface is widely used in applications such as gas sensors and biosensors. A highly sensitive SPR sensor has previously been proposed that is based on the grating method with a conical mounting configuration and uses a phase detection technique. In the previous report, simulations and experiments were carried out using gas as the specimen. In this report, liquid specimens are measured by this sensor. Experimental results using pure water which contains ethanol show that this sensor successfully detects the ethanol concentration with high sensitivity, and shows that it is applicable to liquid sensor such as alcohol concentration sensor.
